So, I just wanted to take some time to sit down and be real with y'all — because I feel like that's been lacking in a lot of the design discourse online right now. There's a lot of shit going on in the product design world. AI is changing the design industry, yes, but most concerning to me is how this change is affecting the attitude that designers hold towards themselves, their work, and the field at large. This change is palpable for everyone, whether you're just starting out or whether you're a senior designer. And while some have undeniably blossomed in this age of AI, the majority of real voices I hear, from friends and strangers who chat with me, are speaking fearfully of this change, uncertain what the right thing to do next is and what the future holds for them. I, too, have been struggling a to adapt, and I still don't think I've fully cracked the case in terms of balancing pursuit of craft and pursuit of character and personal growth.
