Is it worth making the world a "better place" if it breeds weaker people? : r/DeepThoughts
I'd say the best way to sum up my argument is this old adage: Tough times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create tough times. Is it worth making the lives of people in the future better if they simply take it for granted and actively undermine it and make it worse? We see this nowadays with Gen Z and we also saw this in the past with the Romans and Mayans. I feel like life is this cycle of creation and destruction, of order and chaos and that when humans reach a point of comfort we get arrogant enough to undo it out of ingratitude and recklessness. I think the best solution is to stop short of complete comfort and have a level of integrated suffering in everyone's lives so that they can be stronger individuals and not mindlessly undue the progress we have achieved. Edit: Right so two points to add so that I don't hear the same arguments over and over: I'm speaking about in Western countries. I will not presume to talk about countrie
