I posted this meme on teasing that my next essay would be about Frankenstein and I was met with a couple of comments that this is a “reach” or an exaggeration when I suggested the story was about being a woman. To me, this was a surprising response—because, how could it not be a story about womanhood? Of course Mary Shelley is influenced by her own life experiences of womanhood.
