September 9, 2026 The big one This morning I woke to WhatsApp message from a friend: the Navier-Stokes problem has been solved. To be more precise: it was shown a solution to the Navier-Stokes equations of fluid dynamics can develop a singularity in finite time. I recommend reading the account published by OpenAI for both the math and the overview of how and what kind of AI was used (TLDR: monstrous and massive).
