Challenges and recommendations to improve the installability and archival stability of omics computational tools
Developing new software tools for analysis of large-scale biological data involves numerous unique challenges; this Perspective article surveys more than 36,000 software resources, concluding that a rigorous standardized approach is needed to ensure the installability and archival stability of software tools prior to their publication.
