Christiana Morgan: A Pioneer Woman Christiana Drummond Councilman Morgan (1897–1967) was born into a prominent Boston family, made her debut in Boston society, and then promptly set aside conventional expectations. She volunteered as a nurse during World War I, and then moved to New York, where she found intellectual stimulation in the vibrant, experimental atmosphere of the post-war city.
