Mansi Shah is an architect-urban designer, based in Ahmedabad, India. She also teaches in the Faculty of Planning at CEPT University and works on independent research projects on different subjects under the Ahmedabad Mapping project, city water walks and Pocket-garden. She has worked as a senior researcher at Design Innovation and Craft Resource Centre, CEPT University. She has carried out projects on innovative ways to support learning. Jay Thakkar is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Design, and Head of Research at Design Innovation and Craft Resource Centre (DICRC) at CEPT University. He has authored 'Naqsh: The Art of Wood Carving of Traditional Houses of Gujarat: Focus on Ornamentation' (2004) and co-authored 'Matra: Ways of Measuring Vernacular Built Forms of Himachal Pradesh' (2008). A legacy of distinctive traditional building practice known as kath-khuni construction, survives and thrives in the Himalayan hills of India.
