Its presence is little noted, but its absence causes great distress. I talk about agency quite often, because it’s something I only recently discovered (and eventually embraced) for myself. Cultivating agency was a gruelling experience for me; it required a lot of learning, unlearning, risk-taking, and trusting myself to navigate unfamiliar paths.
