Residential Fellows — SMCEC
Fellowships will start on September 12, 2026 and last until June 12, 2027. There will be two fellows in Birmingham and two fellows in Guntersville. Where will I live? Birmingham fellows will live in the folk school house in Southside Birmingham with two other members of the folk school as housemates. Guntersville fellows will live in a cabin on Lake Guntersville. Both houses are already hubs for SMCEC’s programming in each city. What will I do? The fellowship is an immersive educational experience in which fellows will develop their cooperative skillset by supporting the expansion and deepening of SMCEC’s folk school programs. The fellows' work will be in line with the learning goals they set at the beginning of the fellowship. Fellows can expect to handle administrative work, organize events and meetings, and teach and mentor adults in educational settings.
