Sequoia Capital was one of the first in the field of venture capital (VC). To understand Sequoia Capital, however, it is necessary to understand the origins of Silicon Valley. The dawn of Silicon Valley can be traced to a group of eight employees that left Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory to start a new company, Fairchild Semiconductor.
