A topic that has come up through discourse on climate, inequality, feminism, and more is anti-natalism. Without diving into the reasons for this or the current state of things, I want to explore the post-apocalyptic world that leaves us in, where we face the degradation of familial values. In a world where 25-50% of the fertile population does not want to have children, what are the downstream effects of this financially, socially, and demographically? Financial From 30-50, when people tend to be occupied with their children outside of work, childless people will have more time, money, and energy for recreation. For people 50+, there is a term, the “silver economy” which encapsulates all their spending. These habits are usually separated from those 30-50 not because 50+ people do not work, but because they have more recreational spending and do not have dependents. Soon, these groups (the childless + silver economy spenders) may merge. I predict this would lead to a boom in hospitality
