In this class you will write all your programs using an application called PyCharm. PyCharm is what is known as an Integrated Development Environment (or IDE, for short), which means that it allows you to edit code, browse files, run programs and debug them, all in the same place. It's one of the most popular Python IDEs in the world, and used commonly in industry. As an added bonus, PyCharm is available for free on MacOS, Windows, and Linux computers. To download and install PyCharm on your own computer, you should go to the CS106A web site and click on the Course dropdown at the top of the page, and click "Installing Pycharm". If you don't have a laptop, you can obtain a loaner laptop through the Lathrop Technology Hub or talk with our course staff about options for loaner laptops.
