I binge-watched this absolutely terrific show, The Diplomat, centered around negotiations - geopolitical and personal. Brilliant, riveting storyline by Debora Cahn that takes us through the complex web of geopolitical decisions, diplomatic alliances to avert a war in the backdrop of trying to save an equal-footed marriage between 2 headstrong, accomplished, powerful, prominent diplomats. I love subtle, engaging storytelling with a powerful message and diplomat is one such rare masterpiece. I'm a fan because of the number of themes it touches - blurred lines in workplace relationships, gender roles in marriage, individuality, power, politics. Much can be said about the geopolitical narrative but I LOVED how well this show depicts the challenges of changing gender roles in a marriage of equals.
