Retail is a massive market, generating over $7 trillion annually in the U.S. Throughout history, significant technological advancements have driven major innovations in retail. We believe that the AI era offers an opportunity to create the next Amazon. This essay will analyze eight historical technological transformations of retail and then forecast five ways in which the AI revolution might transform retail in the future. We wrote this for entrepreneurs, operators, technologists and investors who are interested in studying the past and understanding what the future might look like.
