MBTA puts ‘googly’ eyes on trains after campaign from residents
Typically, all eyes are on the MBTA for the many problems its riders encounter. A stopped train here, an engine fire there, irritating delays at nearly every turn. Not exactly cause for celebration. But in an unexpected bit of whimsy, the transportation agency has delighted riders by placing googly eyes on five trains after a grass-roots campaign from a group of residents. “Today, the @MBTA and us saw eye to eye,” Arielle Lok, 22, posted on social media last week after MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo told her that the “Googly Eyes on the MBTA” campaign had achieved its goal. Now, while waiting to catch the train — four Green Line trains and one on the commuter rail, to be exact — some lucky riders will be greeted by a googly-eyed stare-down. Truly, a sight to behold.
