First data science co-op advice : r/uwaterloo

Unofficial student and alumni-run subreddit for the University of Waterloo community I'm a sequence 4 honors math student currently in my 1A term, I was wondering what I need to do to in order to get a data science co-op or a data analyst co-op (if data science is too ambitious for my first co-op). My resumé is currently pretty lackluster, with only an engineering internship and some math awards which i'm pretty sure don't really boost my chances. I was wondering if I should learn SQL or get some kind of AWS certification to make my resumé more appealing, I currently have very little coding experience outside of what i'm learning in CS135. Other than that I really don't know what to do and am very clueless about the process in general. Since i'm in sequence 4, I do have more time to get prepared, but I would like to start as soon as possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! aws certs won't be useful imo but taking a project and deploying it on aws/azure/gcp/databricks/snowflak
