Our earliest ancestors, as you may know, had no written language. For tens of thousands of years, right up until recently in some cases, societies of humans got by with spoken language alone. What was their thought-world like, their cognitive space, or nous? Was their noetic world identical than ours? Could they frame the same thoughts that we can? Did the lack of writing mean they perceived the world differently than we do? The short answer is, yes, of course. The longer answer is quite fascinating.
