Have anyone met Vitalik Buterin on campus before he dropped out? : r/uwaterloo
Unofficial student and alumni-run subreddit for the University of Waterloo community If so, what was he like? By blind luck, I ran into him in Toronto back in early 2014 and ran into him again in Waterloo in mid 2014. Honestly, he was kind of awkward and was really interested in the functional programming class (135). Seemed like a cool guy. Didn't meet him at Waterloo but I had lunch with him a couple years ago at work, in the younger days of Ethereum. It was just fascinating listening to him talk because it was really obvious that he was full of passion for what he was doing. I believe almost everyone who knew him in first year (including me) has graduated or otherwise left by now. He was really awkward. I didn't like him that much at first. Carried a small Puget Systems laptop with a huge battery to class and didn't pay too much attention (especially in PHYS 121, as I recall) since he was busy writing articles about Bitcoin.
