I am closing my community paediatric office after almost 43 years of practice, and have as much fun going to my office now as I did when I first started to practice. I was 21 before I decided to choose medicine as my career. This fact has influenced the well-received advice that I give to my adolescent patients. I tell them that there is no rush to choose a career; it is not what you do that is most important, but rather it is most important to do what you love to do.
