Yet, I’m sure everyone has at least one person in their lives who is special in a way that makes those folks seem insignificant by comparison — these people are the best kept secrets, the ones whose love transcends traditional definitions of success or accomplishment. For me, that person is my mother. While I spend my life deeply engrossed in myself, occasionally wondering how I could extend myself for others, my mum does so naturally — forgetting her own needs in service of others, constantly searching ways to show love to everyone around her. It seems like every obstacle in front of her vanishes when she knows she could help a loved one. At one point, even broken bones couldn’t stop her from cooking for me and my brother.
