I picked up a bad habit of only reading non-fiction ever since I started working at Indigo back in 2018. My gateway into reading (looking past my Magic Treehouse era) was “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck” by Mark Manson, and this paved the path towards more self-help, psychology, productivity, and books relating to the general improvement of oneself over the last 6 years. A common lesson or theme that I’ve come across through reading (and also, by living), is that the easiest way to be happy in life is to do work you love with people you love. The phrasing isn’t perfect I’ll admit, and obviously there is quite a bit of nuance, but I believe keeping it simple also keeps it powerful. Simple ideas are also easier to act on and reference. Anecdotally, I’ll tell you that this is a reoccurring pattern that has probably come across all of us whether it be through literature, conversations with people in our lives, or through some other medium.
