It’s day 2 of the Pokémon World Championships in Anaheim, California. Michael Long, the number one ranked player in the senior division, is attempting to bulldoze his way to the top 8 of the tournament. Already having won 2 Internationals while cutting all four, he has a goal set in sight. With controversy following him after his International’s win in North America, Michael is set to prove his doubters wrong by winning Worlds. Having started the day off with a tie, he rattles three wins off in a row, following a loss in the 5th round. Michael knows he must win the next two rounds for a chance to advance to the top 8. As he sits down for his 6th round, he realizes that it is the mirror match. His opponent wins the dice roll and goes first. Michael begins to think of the worst possible outcomes; even though he’s been in countless high pressure situations, he still gets nervous like most players.
