Someone once asked me in a Q&A lightning round, “Would you rather be good or lucky?” I replied, “Lucky.” Many people can be good, but luck is like magic. In fact, many people who are lucky outpace those who are good. Have you ever met somebody whose life seemed charmed? Somebody who always comes up roses, no matter their blunders or missteps? I remember someone on my team once saying, “I wish I had the luck of X. That guy can do no wrong, even when he’s actually wrong. I have never seen someone fail up like that.” I laughed, but they were right: Some people just seem immune to misfortune. So what if I told you that you could make your own luck? If you are reading this right now, you probably have more luck than the average person. At the very least, you have been blessed with curiosity and good taste (kidding!).
