The Endless Vision
When I was in fifth grade, I would sit in the computer lab full of those gray rectangular boxes of the original Macintosh, with their tiny black and white screens, playing with HyperCard. HyperCard was the Mac's innovative, visual creation environment that facilitated creative exploration through an intuitive card-based interface. I’d pour hours into building little games, art pieces and stories. I was so close to making it under the hood of the computer, but I didn't even know the power that was waiting for me a few clicks away. There was nobody to show me. Years later when I started Endless OS and began hiring engineers for the first time, I reflected on my own journey. I felt a little hole in my heart, the same hole I have for never learning the piano. I could have done it. I had been so close.
