[+] U.S. consular officers are still denying visas for Chinese graduate students based on the Chinese university they attended. The Biden administration has continued the denials under a proclamation issued by Donald Trump in May 2020. Research and experience have shown the proclamation is costly to the United States and those affected by the student visa denials. The proclamation has upended the lives of Tian Su and her longtime partner John Murray. (Note: Tian Su is a pseudonym used at the request of the student due to the sensitive nature of the situation and her ongoing efforts to return to the United States.
