This is something I've been noticing all over kpop recently with MAVE's debut. It was a non-issue to me before but with the amount of comments I've seen on tiktoks, on reels, practically everywhere, it's been pricking under my skin. There's a difference between virtual idols being "Al" and an actual person being behind them, doing the mocap and animation for their dance, and recording for their actual music. It's very much a whole team effort, I imagine. Al music as a whole is a very different can of worms but that's an aside for later. The annoyance started building in me when everyone started hailing the end of "actual" music in kpop when MAVE started to be called Al. To me, it was just something like K/DA where, their vocals are backed with members from G-idle. Or æspa's æ or "I" concept. Trends in kpop change and I can't blame idols for choosing to function as one behind a virtual persona with all the horrible things idols have to deal with in real life. It's also kind of reductive
