The past few months I’ve been spending in San Francisco have been nothing short of eye-opening, life changing, and delightful in all the most unexpected ways. I came here with one view of how my life was going to be like — even the kind of person I was going to be and become — and I think I surprised myself a bit, too, with certain emergent qualities of myself and my environment. For example, thinking deeply about something is nearly frictionless now. Is this a function of my location, or is it of my circumstances? I also just really love this city. It’s like Austin in all the right ways, with a high density of really incredible people, and with pockets of nature not even 10 minutes from wherever you are. I don’t even care that I’m living in such a “terrible” part! I’ll miss the character and eclecticism of Soma when I move soon to the Presidio.
