The mining method selected should maximize cost recovery and profitability of operations, minimize ore dilution, and permit the most efficient removal of ore. Once an ore has been probed to be economically viable, and a pre-feasibility study has been conducted to classify the economically viable mineral volume as measured, indicated, and inferred resources, the most appropriate mining method needs to be selected based on the characteristics of the ore, such as dip size, shape of ore body, and strength of ore body.
