Most of us* believe that simplicity is the key to design. I’m a sucker for the best quotes about it. Here are some of my favorites. First, Tony Hoare in his Turing Award lecture lamenting the complexity of Algol-68: I conclude that there are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies.
