I’ve been thinking a lot about the questions that I ask other people. I tend to ask a lot of personal questions—or so my friends tell me. As I’ve been deepening new friendships in medical school recently, I’ve realized that a turning point in my closest relationships—when we go from just friends to close friends—has usually been the result of an intimate conversation. A late night talk about our families, our childhoods, our dreams, our past lovers, our greatest fears. Hand in hand, we jump right into the deep end.
