Welcome to this consultation, which is open until 29 Nov 2024 at 12PM (GMT-5). Please submit your comments before then; you can get started by highlighting some text on the page. This Protocol provides the requirements and procedures for the calculation of net carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e) Removal from the atmosphere via Enhanced Weathering (EW) in agricultural settings. Agricultural EW is considered a subcategory of EW approaches. Silicate weathering naturally sequesters approximately 0.1-0.3 Gt of CO₂ per year1 , 2 ,3 and is thus a critical feedback mechanism in global climate regulation on geologic timescales. In this process, atmospheric CO₂ dissolved in surface water reacts with silicate rocks and is converted to dissolved inorganic carbon or carbonate minerals, both of which constitute stable sinks for CO₂ on geologic timescales4 ,5. Natural weathering can be accelerated by applying crushed silicate rock to agricultural land, where the increased reactive surface area of the r
