I really believe that one of our most important responsibilities is to find and grow the people that can take on your work. In other words, part of our job includes putting ourselves out of a job. Why do I believe this? A few reasons: Ok, so how do you build a bench? In a separate post we talked about identifying the right people to do a job, and creating a framework that sets them up to succeed. This same logic applies to building a bench. Of course we all feel that each of us is unique and irreplaceable at work. But, the truth is, there are other amazing people who can do some or all of our jobs.
