Film Piracy as a means of Film Preservation. +A request for interview : r/TrueFilm
I'm currently writing a treatment for a documentary movie, which aims to examine movie piracy under the special consideration of piracy as a means of film preservation. I saw a post about this topic a short while ago on r/TrueFilm so I thought y'all might be able to help. As you know, it is very difficult to find legal ways of watching old/indie Films, especially those that weren't originally released in the US. Oftentimes, peer-to-peer sites are the only places for the public to find access to these movies. What is your perspective on this matter? Does the film not being readily available online offer just cause for piracy? This question fascinates me. That's why I am writing a treatment for a short documentary film about this. Therefore, I ask for the opportunity to interview a pirate in this matter. Of course, I do not wish to inquire about their identity. I merely want the perspective of an insider.
