I often find myself saying that if you have a pulse, you need a therapist. If you’re a parent, get one immediately. Not because the kids are driving you crazy (although this year, I’m sure they are). Get a therapist because you need to deal with your shit. If you don’t, you’re going to pass it on to your kid(s). You’re going to create issues where there are none, because you have triggers you’ve never seen before and may not even recognize. If you don’t have a therapist, there’s a good chance that it’s because finding one is intimidating. It’s not like there’s some clear process. It feels risky. The lack of practical steps around this subject, and many personal conversations with friends, are what prompted me to write this. In this post, I hope to give you a clear path to follow that will empower you to take the first step towards investing in yourself.
