Unless I’m meditating or doing yoga I generally don’t pay attention to my breath at all, but in the past couple of weeks I’ll suddenly remember and interrupt my train of thought to take a few slow deep breaths. It helps. Turns out, breathing feels really good, and I instantly become calmer when I’m breathing into my belly. It’s taken me a long time to think of breathing as something to be enjoyed. I think that in general I have a weird relationship with enjoyment—I’m not particularly good at it.
