A place can be seen from an infinite number of perspectives. I've been to this Korean restaurant on my street once as the diner, once as the obnoxious, drunken reveler on the sidewalk, today as the driver hurtling by, treading rubber on asphalt. There's something in me that shifts each time — the small connected piece that stirs the past selves awake from their slumber. An orchestration of sentiment that sweeps through you in the same way that color wistfully washes over lyrics on the screen at a cheap karaoke bar, color that disappears as you move onto the next line you're belting out. It seems I've gone forwards and backwards, upside down, failing to hold the emotions in and then pouring them out at the most inopportune moments all over this crowded downtown full of overly-eager car alarms and wannabe visionaries and saintly shop owners.
