1. Mathematical prerequisites: None. You can just try to solve all the prob- lems, and are encouraged to do so, regardless of your skill level! After all, when doing math in reality, the experience of “Damn, I don’t know enough to solve this” happens to you sometimes. It happened to me a lot. Going into this from scratch might end up with you spending a bunch of time learning topology from Wikipedia (although I’ve tried to include all of the relevant definitions in this document so that you don’t have to spend too much time on wild goose chases). Going into math problems unprepared is a fast learning experience and trains virtuous skills like “not giving up” and “learning the needed prerequisites without knowing in advance what you need to learn,” so I encourage you to try doing it regardless of your current math skills. 1 2.
