Transitioning to ML coops and finding ML full time offers : r/uwaterloo

Unofficial student and alumni-run subreddit for the University of Waterloo community I hope you don’t mind me asking, but I’ve been wondering how challenging it is to transition from software engineering to machine learning during co-op placements (I'm 2nd year). If you’re comfortable sharing, I’d also love to hear about your experience in securing your first full-time machine learning role after graduation, and how difficult you found that process. Thank you! fullstack to some MLE roles isnt a big jump. the type of roles where you build products with AI tools to anything else it would be a big jump If you mean mlops, then not a big jump. If you mean core ml, maybe a big jump. If it helps, my coop path was such: swe (automation testing), data analyst (very marketing related), and then got a data science coop for 8 months purely through projects at a very shitty company.
