Nikolai Fyodorovich Fyodorov (called Nikolai Pavlovich Gagarin in the family [ 3 ] ; May 26 ( June 7 ) , 1829 , Klyuchi , Elatomsky District , Tambov Governorate – December 15 ( 28 ), 1903 , Moscow ) [ 4 ] – Russian religious thinker and philosopher - futurologist , librarian , and innovative teacher . One of the founders of Russian cosmism [ 5 ] . He was called the "Moscow Socrates " [ 6 ] . L. N. Tolstoy , F. M. Dostoevsky , and V. S. Solovyov [ 7 ] spoke of Fedorov and his views with respect and admiration . He dreamed of resurrecting people , unwilling to reconcile himself to the death of even one person. With the help of science, he intended to collect scattered molecules and atoms in order to "place them in the bodies of the fathers." Fedorov assigned science a place alongside art and religion in the general task of uniting humanity, including the dead, who should in the future be reunited with those living today [ 8 ] [ 9 ] [ 10 ] .
