I've been trying to write about it ever since I got back and every week when I sit down the essay collapses. It's not because I don't know what to say, but because the thing I'm trying to describe resists language itself. I spend most of my time writing about systems. I write about markets, their participants, about capital, about human mechanics, about how societies organize themselves around money and power and the stories they use to justify both.
