Applications — MIT Digital Currency Initiative
Real-world impact is one of DCI’s core values. In line with MIT’s motto “Mens et Manus” (Mind and Hand), this means we want to not only think about how the future looks, but want to implement and deploy our ideas in real applications to show the capabilities of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. All these applications are (or will soon be) released on the DCI’s GitHub under an open source license. We are designing an integrated system of robust and affordable public financing for solar infrastructure. Our blockchain and hardware engineering and field efforts are geared to consolidate a model to transform all of Puerto Rico’s public schools into solar-power emergency shelters. b_verify is a new protocol for issuing and transacting in verifiable records using a public blockchain. Focused on warehouse receipts as a first use case, its purpose is to improve access to credit and price discovery in supply chains, especially in emerging markets pursuing digitization of paper records.
