Hello again. It’s the time of year when Wisconsin treads awkwardly across the partition between Spring and Summer. It’s 85 today, but next week will be cold. I made myself a floral arrangement today. The lilacs bloom in the dooryard. Summer sings of stonefruit and a cold margarita by the pool. (woowee look at me I’m Sam Sifton) I’ve been thinking about this idea of spring cleaning for your mind. Ever since I read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, I sort of think about being conscious as a grand Western video game. We are the worlds we build for ourselves and today I want to revisit the places I’ve been. Perhaps this blog is just a place for my tumbleweeds and dustbunnies. I think location-based metaphors are sort of an interesting way of explaining the ebb and flow of our thoughts and emotions. “I was in a really dark place”, or “he’s very distant”, or “it comes from a place of love” tease at a broader idea of what it means to live as a person in a human body.
