I have recently come out of a difficult relationship, and I am trying to make sense of it after being gas lighted for several years — I am exploring as I write but I hope someone reads this and gains some insight. The Assumption of Knowledge played a large role in our breakup. It is the belief that the other person is acting with the same knowledge and understanding as you. Let me give you a couple of simple examples in an attempt to make it clear and then tie it into how we react to others.
