Parque Quetzalcóatl | Great Gardens of the World
In the year 2000 after building the project next door El Nido de Quetzalcóatl, the mexican architect Javier Senosiain together with his firm Arquitectura Orgánica started a new project in the outskirts of Mexico City. Originally the land was intended as a space for preservation however after some years the project expanded up to 20 hectares. After this expansion they decided to start an ecological park and a space for connection with nature through living landscaping combined with organic architecture. The park is a small lung to the northeast of the city, with the amount of biomass we have, we are able absorb and transform the carbon dioxide from the city. Several glens run along the project which become an ally when we have to conduct the waters after rains into a water mirror; in here the surplus goes into a cistern he use for dry seasons.
