If you have ever asked to draw a clock face, you might think: “Woah, such an easy task!” and draw something like this: However, some people’s drawings might surprise you. Here is an example: If your friend is presenting you with the “clock-face drawing” like this, they are likely experiencing a syndrome called “Hemineglect” or “Hemispatial neglect”. This syndrome might result from a tumour, stroke or damage to the right hemisphere, traumatic brain injury or neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, causing a “lesion” in that part of the brain. According to scientific research, almost 50% of right-hemisphere stroke survivors experience this syndrome. This syndrome can make the patient only experience “half of the world” while might not be able to experience “the other half”. What does that mean?
