35th International Biology Olympiad (Kazakhstan, 2024)

This year, IBO 2024 was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. NZIBO Team 2024 now updates us on their amazing experience overseas…. We all met up at Auckland Airport for the first time since camp to fly out together. It was a calm flight followed by a hectic stopover in Beijing Airport. Landing at 4am, we discovered we had a short domestic flight within China that we didn’t even know about and had to enter China and get to the domestic terminal in just over an hour. We made it with 5 minutes to spare! Thankfully, Jifei was able to translate and get us through or else we might never have got to Kazakhstan!! At the Airport in Astana, we were met by the organising people and greeted by music and chocolate!! We then had several days to relax and get over the jet lag before the competition. We hung out with the Iceland and Aussie team which was pretty cool.
