I grew up with the traditional thought process. You save, invest and find a financial planner to help you make smart decisions about your money. However, when I started my career on Wall Street, I began to think about money differently. I was trading millions and sometimes billions of dollars daily, and I quickly saw money for exactly what it was: a tool. Being a trader taught me to let go of the emotion involved in making decisions about money. Still, at some point, I realized that when I walked away at the end of the day – I was not paying the same kind of attention to my finances that I was to my clients’. I used money as a tool all day, making critical decisions second by second on the trading floor and making investments for a specific reason. Yet I wasn’t being as agile in my life and with my own money as I could be. I began looking into budgeting tools and financial planners.
