O grave, where is thy victory?” On Sunday, Mothers Day, my mother Ann, died. She was my best friend There are the symmetries in her life and death. She was raised in an orphanage, and her last days were spent in a place that once served as an orphanage. She came into the world alone, no family, but was surrounded by family when she passed. Most obituaries focus on a life story, achievements, survivors etc. which is the easiest way to convey defining attributes. My mothers life story is certainly profound, but her death reinforced who she was in a way I'd like to share. A few days ago, on the one year anniversary of her first stroke, my mom suffered another, more catastrophic one. Her doctor advised she'd live until Tuesday max. She held on till Sunday, Mother’s Day. On
