Statement of purpose length : gradadmissions
Most of the application requirements I've read for the universities I'm applying to (PhD, Neuroscience or related biomedical sciences) state no length requirement for the SoP. Is there an unofficial length standard most science PhD programs expect - 1-2 pages or more? Double-spaced? I'm in neuroscience and mine was a little over one page single spaced. I would not go more than two pages. The admissions committee is going to read a lot of those, so don't give them reason to toss yours aside. The layout that I used: Introduction: General topic I want to study and smaller areas within that interest me Professors at that university I would like to work with based on what I want to study and any other information as to why that university is the best choice for you (facilities you require that can't be found elsewhere, etc.) My research experience How my research experience will complement the work I plan to do in grad school Conclusion - reiterate why that school is the logical and best ch
