I’m currently the founding engineer at MyMi. Before this I was studying ECE @ University of Toronto, dabbling in research across AI, biophysics, math, and cell biology. I’m “on leave” – at some point I might go back and finish my degree. I’m Korean, I like to move, and I’m too opinionated for my own good. Here’s what I’ve read so far as an adult. I’ve also recently picked up piano (again). In late high school, I wanted to become a professor. I liked working on technically interesting and difficult things, and I thought academia was the best environment to be doing that. Since the end of high school I spent 3 years in academic research, working as an RA throughout the calendar year. After working at multiple labs, I became unenlightened with academia. Some key reasons were: poor pay; overbearing bureaucracies which made everything move slowly; poor incentives to maximize publications; and to me the most unappealing, being surrounded by neo-marxists & closeted communists. Built linguistic data analytics software as a subcontractor. Passed phase 1 trials, pending contracts for 2025. I contributed to an evaluation framework library for ML models, and built agent-based modelling simulation tools for chaotic dynamical systems. I built software that simulated cell movement in drosphilia tissue. Unfortunately quit the job early because of a family emergency.
